With immediate effect, we will be temporarily closed whilst a new liquor licence application is processed by Reading Borough Council. A technical error with the current licence held by us has arisen, and through no wrong-doing of the owners, management or staff of Sahara, an application for a new licence has been placed with the Local Authority. This application is expected to take between 6 and 10 weeks, at which point a new licence will be issued and we will re-open. We would like to emphasise that this is a temporary closure and apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused - if we had been able to, we would have avoided this action, however we are bound by the law pending the new licence.

The ownership, management and staff at Sahara will not change and will remain in place during the temporary closure and subsequent re-opening. We anticipate opening late August/September, launching with a new basement mojito lounge and the 13th edition of our infamous cocktail menu which will infuse new flavours as well as bring a brand new wine and beer selection for you to enjoy.

The progression of Sahara's licence application and confirmed opening dates will be published on our website at www.saharabars.co.uk. Alternatively if you are interested in becoming a Sahara Loyalty Club member, you can register on the website to receive automatic updates.

Please be reassured that this is a temporary measure. We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, and more-so, for your valued and loyal custom over the past 7 years. We have some exciting plans for when we re-open later in the year and the time we spend closed will be put to good use, building on the great foundations we have already.

Our Support to Charity

This year we have chosen to support The Prostate Cancer Charity. Of every Mojito we sell, 10p goes directly to The Prostate Cancer Charity, as well as any proceeds raised from donations given in exchange for a pin badge in the bar. Conference/Meeting Room Hire

Our Basement Lounge Bar is the ideal place to have a team meeting, a networking event or small conference. Offering a relaxing and private environment, our basement lounge bar is available for exclusive hire during the day Tuesday to Friday and during the evening, Monday to Thursday. We can accommodate up to 45 guests, can provide wireless internet facilities, food and drink.
